I've not got Maya 7 installed anymore, but it should work fine - versions 6 through to 8.5 are supported by the current driver, so if you did for some reason have issues, 3D Connexion should be able to help. Select that, and the blue light will turn off until you select "Enable LEDs" again. If you open the 3DConnexion control panel and go into the Tools menu, there’s an option that says “Disable LEDs”. Although it was possible to manually install the previous version, this latest one installs as part of the setup and works a lot better (the control was a little erratic).
